Kinetic Environmental is a small consultancy specialising in providing in-depth, expert planning and resource management services. We have a loyal client base both in the public and private sectors, offering a diverse range of project work. We provide our clients with the best professional service possible, working alongside them in a trusted advisor role. Our team takes pride in tailoring our advice to suit the situation, which is achieved as a result of our many years of experience within the planning industry.

CHRISTIAN MCDEAN
Director and Principal Planner

Christian has over twenty years’ experience as a planner, having worked the majority of that time as a consultant. He has an astute commercial mind and is known for providing proficient, frank and practical advice.
His ever-returning clients respect him for his friendly, honest demeanour as well as his ability to find a solution for any problem, however intricate.
Christian has a keen interest in complex rural projects, specifically aggregate extraction and intensive farming operations. These projects often involve numerous specialists inputs, council, community and stakeholder engagement. This allows Christian to bring to bear all his experience gained over his many years as a planning consultant to drive these projects forward in an increasingly crowded regulatory environment.
Christian is a full member of the New Zealand Planning Institute and is the current Chair of the Waikato Branch of the NZPI.
JULIA MASTERS
Senior Planner

Julia has been a planner for 15+ years, working most of that time as a consultant in the Waikato. She has a wide range of statutory planning experience, particularly in the preparation and processing of complex resource consent applications.
Julia is passionate about projects which benefit the wider community and a career highlight was the consenting of the Perry Cycle Bridge which is part of the Te Awa Cycleway. She is also interested in the consultation process and heritage planning.
Julia is known for her strong work ethic, empathy and friendly-bubbly manner. Julia works hard to provide practical and considered advice and enjoys the challenge of finding solutions for her clients.
CRAIG INSKEEP

Craig is a Senior Planner with over twenty years’ experience as a planner in various roles in Consultancy, Local Government, and the Private Sector within the greater Waikato/Bay of Plenty area. Craig is well experienced in providing expert planning advice on environmental matters and both district and regional consenting for a variety of projects including infrastructure, farming /agricultural activities, rural industries, asset maintenance, aggregate extraction, commercial /industrial developments, landuse and residential developments.
Craig’s strengths are in working with clients to understand their goals for the project considering the bigger picture and understanding the specific project details. Having worked in multidisciplinary teams with project managers, engineering, scientific and architectural professionals, Craig will look to work with the team collaborating throughout various project stages bringing the planning aspects to the table early and advising on environmental risks.
With Craig’s friendly and straight forward approach he is working hard to establish trusted relationships built around mutual understanding of skills and knowledge, these quickly sees him becoming a sounding board for queries and trusted advisor for more complex consenting challenges.
DANIELLE SINGH

Danielle has been a planner for over 6 years, having started with the Kinetic team as a student in 2018. Over the years she has gained experience in drafting and processing resource consents as well as preparing consultation documentation and liaising with iwi.
Danielle has significant experience in processing resource consent applications for many Waikato's consenting authorities, including Waikato, Waipa, Hauraki and Thames Coromandel District Councils and the Waikato Regional Council. Danielle also undertakes consent processing for the Gisborne District Council as a Unitary Authority, processing both district and regional council.
In preparing and managing consent applications Danielle works within the council infrastructure consenting space with a particular focus on coastal processes and climate change.
Danielle is an Intermediate Member of the New Zealand Planning Institute.
GRACE COX
Graduate Planner

Grace has joined the Kinetic Environmental Team as a Graduate Environmental Planner following the completion of her studies last year. Within the short time frame she has been at Kinetic Environmental, she has assisted with both drafting and processing resource consent applications.
During her studies she found a particular interest in the coastal area and building resilience against natural hazards and erosion, and climate change adaptation.
Grace is eager to learn from the senior planners and their planning experience, and assisting with the needs of clients. She is excited to gain experience within the planning profession and assist the team on a range of tasks and projects.
ROWENA LOUGHNAN
Office Manager/CS VUE Administrator

Rowena has a strong administrative background with experience in a range of business support roles.
Rowena has been with the team for over 2 years supporting the planning team and ensuring that the business operates smoothly by running our financial and project management systems.
Rowena is also responsible for administering CS VUE (consent monitoring software) on behalf of a Waikato territorial authority. In her capacity as CS VUE administrator she is responsible for hundreds of consents and thousands of consent conditions, ensuring accurate record keeping and reporting is undertaken to maintain a high level of compliance.
This dual role allows her to both directly and indirectly support our clients.
